PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high supercharging and a large amount of EGR in order to achieve both NOx reduction and improvement of output and fuel consumption in a multi-cylinder engine equipped with a turbocharger. SOLUTION: The multi-cylinder engine includes: exhaust manifold parts 9a, 9b divided per cylinder group in which exhaust strokes are not overlapped mutually; intake manifold parts 3a, 3b divided per cylinder group in which intake strokes are not overlapped mutually; EGR passages 36a, 36b extending between and connected to the exhaust manifold parts 9a, 9b and the intake manifold parts 3a, 3b, respectively; nozzle sections 23a, 23b for preventing counter flow of exhaust pulse between the exhaust manifold parts 9a, 9b, respectively; resonance pipes 40a, 40b extending between and connected to branched portions 42 of an intake pipe 4 and the intake manifold parts 3a, 3b as means for controlling a phase of intake air pulsation of the intake manifold parts 3a, 3b, respectively; and check valves 39 arranged on the downstream sides of the EGR passages 36a, 36b.
