PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strip winding method in which a strip fore end and a strip tail end are located at predetermined positions with excellent accuracy, and a system for performing the method. SOLUTION: In the strip winding method for winding a strip around a tension reel of a device for winding the strip, the position of a fore end of the strip on the inner circumference of the strip wound around the tension reel is calculated based on the conveying amount of the fore end of the strip from the strip cutting position to the position at which the strip is wound around the tension reel, and the rotational angle of the tension reel.
