PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent environmental problems from being generated by removing remaining foods by utilizing a gas with a lunch box upright, to prevent a carrying mechanism from being affected by the dropping remaining foods, and in addition, to keep the height of the overall apparatus low. SOLUTION: Following means are adopted in a lunch box moving path consisting of a carrying conveyor for the pre-treating device in an automatic lunch box washing apparatus constituted by providing a remaining food discarding section. Firstly, a holding mechanism for the box body, and an upright state introducing mechanism for the box body are provided on the carrying conveyor. Secondly, a gas jetting mechanism which jets a gas for dropping the remaining foods toward the inside of the box body under the upright state at the remaining food discarding section is provided. Thirdly, the box body is held upright by the standing state introducing mechanism at the remaining food discarding section, and at the same time, after discarding the remaining foods by jetting the gas to the inside of the box body by the gas jetting mechanism, the box body is moved to the washing section.
