<p>This invention relates to the functional characterization of vesicular glutamate transporter 2 (VGLUT 2), also known as brain-specific sodium-dependent inorganic phosphate transporter (DNPI), a dominant inorganic phosphate transport system in synaptic terminals of diencephalic neurons. In particular, the present invention provides evidence that VGLUT2 is associated with anxiety inducing conditions, in particular with obsessive-complusive spectrum disorders, including obsessive- compulsive disorder (OCD).</p> |
