1,153,350. Silo unloaders; endless conveyers. A.O. SMITH HARVESTORE PRODUCTS Inc. 7 Oct., 1966 [24 Oct., 1965], No. 44997/66. Headings B8A and B8E. [Also in Division F1] A silo bottom unloader is driven by hydraulic power means. An arm 4 having a cutter chain 6 is rotably mounted on a central shaft 5 and dislodges and conveys material to a trough 7 for extraction by a conveyer 8. The shaft 5 is driven by a rack 26, Fig. 5, moved by a piston 27 in cylinders 28, 29 through a clutch 17-22. The arrangement is such that another cylinder 31 moves a clutch collar 17 either to engage a clutch half 19 with a member 22 driven by the rack 26 to drive the arm a small arc during actuation of the rack in one direction or to engage an upper clutch half 18 to a lock member 21 to hold the shaft 5 against backward movement on the return of the rack 26. The conveyer 8 is driven by an hydraulic motor 45 which automatically runs at a slower speed as the load increases. The chain 35 of the conveyer 8 engages a sprocket 34 on a sleeve 13 which has a second sprocket 12 to drive the chain 6. |
