BACKLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) including the same are provided to prevent light leakage and brightness deterioration by forming an area of a flexible circuit board adhered to a light guide plate to have a thin thickness, and thus removing a height difference between a light emission diode and the light guide plate. A mold frame has an opened inside. A light guide plate(200) is disposed in the mold frame, and guides a light path. A point light source(420) has a light emission surface substantially corresponding to an incident surface of the light guide plate. A flexible circuit board(400) includes a mounting portion(430) mounting the point light source and having a first thickness, and an adhering portion adhered to the light guide plate and having a second thickness thinner than the first thickness. An adhering member(500) is interposed between the adhering portion and the light guide plate to adhere the light guide plate with the flexible circuit board, and has a thickness corresponding to a thickness difference between the first and second thicknesses. The point light source has the substantially the same thickness as the light guide plate.
