Method of making turbine components

In a process to manufacture a turbine blade with a number of voids and cooling air outlets at the trailing edge, the cooling air outlets are closed by adhesive tape under a steel cover strip (15, 16) prior to application of a ceramic coating. The strip has flexible locating pins (16) that block the holes during the coating process. After coating, the strip and pins are withdrawn. The strip is a material that is not attacked by the ceramic coating material.
