Preparation for carbodiimide and/or uretonimine groups exhibiting organic isocyanates with a haze-color value of /~100, preferably /~ 50 APHA, comprises partially carbodiimidizing the organic isocyanate with a phospholine type catalyst and terminating the carbodiimidizing reaction, by adding a terminator in two-portion, where the temperature of the reaction mixture is high during the first portion, than the second portion.
