Method of controlling a motor

A method of controlling a movable member driven by an electric motor by monitoring current circulating through the electric current and ripples therein. The method includes detecting current peaks 2 and counting the number of current peaks 2 falling within sampling windows (40-66, figure 2) such that the number of current peaks falling within the sampling windows (40-66, figure 2) is used to determine an angular position of the electric motor for use in facilitating the control thereof.
