A 5 line 4 column Japanese keyboard system is provided to raise character input efficiency by preventing finger from moving across, as Japanese characters are arranged in 5 line 4 column based on character classes. 9 buttons for selecting a voiceless sound are arranged to the first and second line among 15 buttons from 1 line 1 column to 5 line 3 column. 2 buttons for selecting a semivowel and an interval sound are arranged to 3 line 1 column and 3 line 2 column. The buttons for selecting a voice sound and a semi-voice sound are arranged to 3 line 3 column and 4 line 3 column. 5 buttons for selecting vowels are arranged to the fourth column.
