In a passenger or goods lift, the car is raised and lowered by a screw and nut mechanism 8, 9, the rotatable nut 9 and driving motor 12 being mounted on a frame 5, 6 secured to the rear wall of the car. The screw 8 is suspended in the lift shaft, Fig. 4 (not shown), and the nut 9 is rotatably secured to a plate 7 on the frame 6 by bearings 10, 11 and is connected to the motor drive pulley 15 by V-belts 13. A hand wheel 17 is connected to the pulley 15 whereby the nut 9 may be rotated manually. The nut 9 is connected by pins 19 to a lock nut 18 to prevent the car from descending under gravity when the nut 9 has become worn and is no longer self-locking. The car is provided with guide rollers 20, 21 running in guides 22 at the rear of the car. The upper end of the screw 8 is connected to an overload prevention device, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), which incorporates a switch for deenergizing the motor. |
