A light-emitting device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to enhance the light-emitting efficiency of the device by forming a housing part on a metal plate through press working. A light-emitting device includes a light-emitting element(12), a substrate(11) having the light-emitting element, and a metal frame(15) provided on the substrate and having a housing part (28) for housing the light-emitting element. The housing part has a shape that is tapered upward from the substrate. The substrate has a metal frame inserting part receiving at least part of the metal frame, and a cutting part formed on the metal frame for allowing the external shape of the metal frame to be deformable.
