A telecommunication system using a USB and a UART in common is provided to use USB or UART communication by detecting a USB or UART connection signal from an external device on a single USB connector, and switching a USB or UART data signal line. The USB connector(100) provides interface for an external device, and has signal line data. An analog switch(200) selectively sets a UART or USB data signal line to a signal line of the connector according to a selection control signal. A system controller reads a signal level by setting a UART data signal line terminal as a GPIO(General Purpose Input/Output) port, and detects whether the UART or the USB is connected to the connector depending on a signal level. If a UART connection signal is detected, the system controller sets the UART data signal line terminal as a UART port, and performs the UART communication by connecting a path of the UART data signal line and the connector signal line through the selection control signal. If the USB connection signal is detected, the system controller performs the USB communication by connecting the path of the USB data signal line and the connector signal line through the analog switch.
