SWITCHING BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A system and a method for charging a switching battery are provided to improve efficiency of a battery charging process by being adapted to a specific battery or a change of a battery charging environment. A method for charging a switching battery includes the steps of: storing a plurality of charging parameters on at least one programmable data storage element(302); providing a constant current to the battery from a switching regulator through a filter for a first period, wherein the provided constant current is set by a first parameter of the stored charging parameters(312); providing a variable constant current in the range of a value so that the first parameter is set to perform a program for the constant current in the range corresponding to the current value; if the voltage of the battery is higher than a first threshold value, providing the constant voltage to the battery from the switching regulator through the filter for a second period, wherein the constant voltage is set by a second parameter of the stored charging parameters(320); and providing the variable constant voltage in the range of the value so that the second parameter is set to perform the program for the constant current in the range corresponding to the current value.
