An apparatus and a method for canceling multi user interference in a communication system using an orthogonal frequency division multiple access scheme are provided to improve the performance of the system by removing the multi user interference at an upper link signal. In an apparatus for canceling multi user interference in a communication system using an orthogonal frequency division multiple access scheme, a station receiving stage receives an uplink signal through a receiving antenna. The uplink signal has signals from several moving stations. The received signal is inputted into an RF(Radio Frequency) processor(102). The RF processor(102) converts the received signal into a base band signal, and outputs the converted signal to an AD converter(104). The AD converter(104) converts the analog signal into a digital signal, and outputs the digital signal to a synchronizer(106). The synchronizer(106) estimates a time offset of the digital signal to acquire time synchronization, and outputs the time synchronization to a CP(Cyclic Prefix) remover(108). The CP remover(108) removes a CP from the digital signal, and outputs the signal to subtracters(130,140).
