A non-aqueous electrolyte for an electrochemical device is provided to impart excellent low-temperature quality and high-temperature safety to the electrochemical device, and to prevent ignition and explosion of the electrochemical device upon overcharge. A non-aqueous electrolyte comprises: an electrolyte containing a lithium salt and a solvent; 1-10 wt% of a compound represented by the following chemical formula 1 or a decomposed product thereof based on the weight of the electrolyte; and 1-40 wt% of an aliphatic mononitrile compound based on the weight of the electrolyte. In chemical formula 1, each of X and Y independently represents H, Cl or F, except that both of X and Y represent H at the same time.
