摘要 An apparatus for attaining offline paging indicator information in an asynchronous mobile communication system and a method thereof are provided to reduce largely power and modulation time of a receiver by executing a modulation procedure of a PICH(Paging Indicator Channel) in a catnap mode, not a wake mode, for checking whether a mobile communication terminal is paged. An apparatus for attaining offline paging indicator information in an asynchronous mobile communication system comprises a memory(501) and a paging detector. The memory(501) stores data of a PICH received in a normal mode. The paging detector detects a paging indicator by transferring from a normal mode to a catnap mode, and checking information of the PICH, information expressing a start position of a frame and a start position of a paging indicator and information on a section length of the paging indicator via usage of a normal speed clock. The paging detector includes a search engine(503), a channel estimating & compensating unit(505), and a paging indicator component accumulator(502). The search engine(503) finds a start position of a frame and performs a synchronization procedure y using the information of the PICH stored at the memory(501). The channel estimating & compensating unit(505) performs a channel estimation and compensation regarding the information, expressing the start position of the paging indicator and the data, matched with the information on the section of the paging indicator. The paging indicator component accumulator(502) accumulates the data inputted at the start position of the paging indicator by the information on the section length of the paging indicator, and sets the accumulated value as a paging indicator of a mobile communication terminal.
