CHANGEABLE ANTENNA FOR PORTABLE TERMINAL

A variable antenna unit of a mobile terminal is provided to obtain excellent radiation characteristics all the time by switching and selectively operating two antenna units according to a call state. The first antenna radiator(11) is installed at a proper position within a mobile terminal. The second antenna radiator(21) is installed to be spaced apart from the first antenna radiator(11). A switching unit(310) selectively switches the first antenna radiator(11) or the second antenna radiator(21). The first sensor(309) is installed near the first antenna radiator(11) and senses a portion of the terminal grasped by a user. The second sensor(308) is installed near the second antenna radiator(21) and senses a portion of the terminal grasped by the user. A controller(300) controls the switching unit(310) to allow the first antenna radiator(11) or the second antenna radiator(21) to be selectively operated by the sensing operation of the first sensor(309) or the second sensor(308).
