An insulation coating agent for coating an electric wire is provided to impart excellent heat resistance, flame resistance and electrical insulation property to the electric wire and to minimize damages in a fire. An insulation coating agent for coating an electric wire(100) comprises a polyimide-based varnish. The polyimide-based varnish includes a polyamic acid(PAA) solution. The polyamic acid solution is obtained by reacting a diamine as a monomer for polyamide and a dianhydride in a desired solvent. The solvent used for preparing the polyamic acid solution preferably includes N,N'-dimethylacetamide. The polyimide-based varnish is any one of polyimide materials, polyamideimide materials, polyesterimide materials and modified polyimide materials, or a combination thereof.
