An electrophoretic display device and a driving method thereof are provided to display an image which is the same as an input image, by additionally providing a piezoelectric film on an upper substrate and rearranging charge particles of an electrophoretic layer by inputting an external image through an input device. A first substrate includes a thin film transistor(TFT), a pixel electrode(117) and a storage capacitor(Cst) in each of pixels defined by gate lines, and data lines perpendicularly intersect each other. A second substrate is attached to the first substrate to face the first substrate. An electrophoretic layer(105) includes charged pigment particles interposed between the first and second substrates. A piezoelectric film(122) is formed on the second substrate. A backlight is provided under the first substrate.
