METHOD FOR REPORTING CHANNEL STATE IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for reporting a channel state in a mobile communication system is provided to minimize an uplink signaling overhead by reducing the number of transmissions of channel information and the amount of channel state information in case that a mobile station transmits the channel state information in a diversity channel and a band AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding) channel. A method for reporting a channel state in a mobile communication system comprises the following several steps. A mobile station measures a downlink channel state regarding an overall frequency band from a base station(102). The mobile station determines the first MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) channel corresponding to the measured channel state(104). The mobile station checks whether a level of the determined MCS is the level of the first MCS which has to be reported to a base station(106). If so, the mobile station reports the level of the determined MCS to the base station(112). Otherwise, the mobile station checks whether a level of a previous MCS is different from that of a current MCS(108). If so, the mobile station recognizes a change in a value of the level of the MCS, and reports information on a difference between the value of the level of the previous MCS and that of the current MCS to the base station(110).
