1,161,461. Bis-carboxylic acid anhydrides. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 13 Dec., 1967 [14 Dec., 1966], No. 56707/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Novel compounds of the general formula wherein X represents an alkylene radical the chain of which may be interrupted by the hetero atoms oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen and in which any nitrogen may be substituted by carboxyalkyl, carboxylic or heterocyclic groups, or wherein X represents arylene or cycloalkylene, or X represents a radical of the form -A-B-A- wherein A is a cycloalkylene radical which may be substituted by alkoxy, or an arylene radical and B is oxygen, sulphur, sulphonyl, alkylene or carbonyl are prepared by reaction of the corresponding tetracarboxylic acid at temperatures below 150‹ in the presence of an organic monocarboxylic acid anhydride, preferably the anhydride of a low fatty acid or ketene and optionally in the presence of a tertiary nitrogen base which may be a tertiary heterocyclic nitrogen base. A pentaglycidyl ether is produced as a starting material by adding 2,2,6,6-tetramethylol cyclohexanol to epichlorohydrin in the presence of BF 3 etherate. The addition product is condensed with sodium hydroxide in an organic solvent to form the corresponding 1,2,2,6,6-penta-2,3-epoxy-propyl ether.
|
