A mobile terminal having a function of managing characters information and a method for displaying the characters information are provided to allow a user to manage transmission/reception information or schedule information by character, easily use a function of targeting a corresponding character, and easily access character information. A memory unit(20) stores an image icon related to a certain character and information related to the character. A display unit(10) displays the image icon on a standby screen. When the image icon is selected, a controller(5) controls such that at least one of schedule information, call transmission/reception information, and message transmission/reception related to the character is displayed. A user input unit(7) sets a certain character and information related to the corresponding character with respect to the image icon according to a user selection.
