An image forming apparatus is provided to prevent movement of an electric charge roll directly and certainly by rotation of a photoconductor drum with simple formation and low cost. A rotative image carrier(2) has a surface for forming an electrostatic latent image thereon. An electric charge roll(3) rotates, following the image carrier for charging the surface of the image carrier with electricity to a predetermined electric potential. A support unit(CL) is installed at a place lower than a nip part(N) of the image carrier and the electric charge roll according to a rotation direction of the electric charge roll, and vertically to a plane formed with an axial line of the image carrier and an axial line of the electric charge roll, and contacting with the electric charge roll at a place upper than the plane including the axial line of the electric charge roll.
