A system and a method for providing search information are provided to offer a dropdown search list capable of satisfying various needs of a user by searching input of a predetermined identifier if the identifier is received with a keyword. The client(100) detects the input of the predetermined identifier when a character string is inputted to an address window of a web browser or a search window of a webpage, and transfers the keyword included in the character string to the server(300). The server provides a search information list to the client by receiving the keyword from the client. The client displays the search information list in the dropdown list on the screen of the client if the search information list is received. The client determines the input of the identifier if a value received from a keyboard is a predetermined value.
