An image forming apparatus and a method for processing the same are provided to obtain image information by connecting an external monitor without connecting a PC, by adding a function capable of connecting an external monitor, to the image forming apparatus. A memory card reader(110) reads image information of an external storage medium. An image processor(112) converts the image information read by the memory card reader to display the image information, following a standard of an external monitor(116). A monitor interface part(114) connects the image processor with the external monitor. A timing setting part(122) sets up a predetermined time by input from the user. A memory(104) stores the predetermined time. A control unit(100) transmits the image information read by the memory card reader to the image processor according to a periodical signal generated every predetermined time stored on the memory.
