A method and a device for image focusing are provided to move a focus lens largely when a zoom lens position belongs to a wide area or move a focus lens finely when a zoom lens position belongs to a narrow area for reducing focusing operation, thereby realizing high speed focusing to an optimum position without malfunction due to noise. A device for image focusing includes a position analysis part(10) for analyzing information on a position of a zoom lens, a position determining part(12) for determining a position of the zoom lens in at least two or more areas, which belong to zoom areas of the zoom lens, and a focusing determining part(14) for moving the focusing lens by a set interval to the determined area and obtaining the highest focus value during the movement.
