Frangible cartridge for use in fixing anchor rods or bolts in drill holes in rock, comprising a resin and a hardener contained in separate compartments whereby on screwing the rod or bolt into the hole to break the cartridge, the resin and hardener are mixed together to form a resin glue, the cartridge incorporating a filler formed by particles having round surfaces, e.g., shale. A polyester resin incorporating styrene may be used at temperatures below 50‹ C., and epoxy or polyurethane resins may be used at temperatures above 50‹ C. The hardener comprises methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, cyclohexanone peroxide, benzene peroxide, p-dichlorobenzoyl peroxide, tetriary butyl perbenzoate, ditertiary butyl peroxide or lauroyl peroxide. The polyester resins include accelerators such as cobalt napthenate, cobalt octoate or dimethyl or diethyl amines. |
