摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printed image of high quality by reducing color misalignment due to the relative difference of a velocity fluctuation amplitude between respective image carriers. <P>SOLUTION: When a photoreceptor drum 1 for an image forming apparatus is replaced, or when a user manually selects, a phase adjusting process for the photoreceptor drum 1 is started. In the phase adjusting process, phase shift detection patterns are successively drawn on an intermediate transfer belt 3, and the absolute position information of the pattern detected by a pattern detection sensor is recorded in a memory. Each color pattern is drawn starting from the same position of the belt 3, and the pattern is drawn over one or more rounds of the belt 3. The present phase difference between respective color photoreceptor drums 1 is simultaneously measured by a position detecting filler 13 attached to the driving gear 11 of each photoreceptor drum 1. Each color misregistration fluctuation is obtained from the pattern position information recorded in the memory, and from the obtained misregistration fluctuation of each color, one having the largest amplitude is regarded as a reference color to be used for obtaining the phase difference of the photoreceptor drum 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
