PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounted quartz oscillator where the images of the bottom wall layer and frame wall layer of a case body are surely recognized as being distinguished from each other so as to facilitate the mounting process for improving the productivity, and the quartz oscillator is sealed up with glass so as to be improved in oscillation properties, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A crystal piece 2 is placed in a U-shaped case body 1 formed of a ceramic laminate composed of the bottom wall layer 1a and the frame wall layer 1b, and a glass sealing cover 3 is provided to the open end face of the case body 1 for the formation of a surface-mounted quartz oscillator. The bottom wall layer 1a and the frame wall layer 1b are set different from each other in the external colors. In the method of manufacturing the surface-mounted quartz oscillator; the bottom wall layer 1a and the frame wall layer 1b are set different from each other in the outsides color, the inner bottom surface of the case body is recognized by image recognition, and the crystal piece 2 attracted, for instance, by vacuum suction is positioned and then fixed.
