PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater recovery structure and an underwater recovery method for a shield machine allowing the shield machine to be recovered by pushing out the shield machine in a reliable manner by remote operation without submerging anhydrophilic parts inside the shield machine. SOLUTION: The inside of a shield frame 2 of the shield machine 1 is partitioned by a machine side cut-off wall 5 into a front airtight chamber 3 in which the anhydrophilic parts 17, 18, 23, 19X are stored, and a rear region 4, and water is led into a tunnel 6 behind the machine side cut-off wall 5. Water bottom sediment 41X above the shield machine 1 is removed, and a power source or a hydraulic line 42 is connected to a connecting unit 12 provided at the shield frame 2, from the outside of the shield frame 2. A jack 11 provided in the shield frame 2 is operated from the outside of the shield frame 2 through the power source or the hydraulic line 42 and the connecting unit 12 to push out the shield frame 2 ahead of the tunnel 6.
