PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove from a wiper surface an adhering substance such as ink or a foreign substance left on the wiper surface after the wiping action for an ink head is carried out by a wiper. SOLUTION: The cleaning mechanism of the wiper in an inkjet printer which removes the adhering substance adhered to a face where an inkjet nozzle of the ink head 10 to eject a predetermined ink onto a medium by an inkjet system is positioned includes a wiper device and a washing fluid tank in which a washing fluid is stored. The wiper device selectively positions the wiper at an operation position where the wiper and the face where the inkjet nozzle of the ink head is positioned can contact each other, and a waiting position where the wiper and the face where the inkjet nozzle of the ink head is positioned are hindered from contacting each other.
