An apparatus for managing a log in a switch and a method thereof are provided to efficiently manage a log file by setting up the number of days for storing the log file, and to manage an access or a release of an administrator by storing the information on the access or the release of the administrator as a session log file. An apparatus for managing a log in a switch comprises a log storage request receiver(200) and a controller(210). The log storage request receiver(200) receives a request for storing the log. The controller(210) searches for a log file in a log memory in correspondence with a date and a kind of the log if receiving the request for storing the log, and stores additionally the requested log in the log file to be stored if there exists the log file to be stored. If there does not exist the log file, the controller generates a log file in correspondence with a date or a kind of the log and stores the log in the generated log file. |
