PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact color image forming apparatus where a plurality of developing devices can be arranged in parallel around a small-diameter photoreceptor drum. SOLUTION: In the four-cycle type image forming apparatus 100 where the developing devices 4a to 4d for respective colors, cyan, magenta, yellow and black are arranged in parallel in order from the upstream side in the rotating direction of a large-diameter photoreceptor drum 1, a toner carrier in the developing devices 4a to 4d is constituted of an endless developing belt 33 stretched and laid by a developing counter roller 31 opposed to the photoreceptor drum 1 and a developing belt driving roller 32 opposed to a supply roller 22. The roller diameter of the developing counter roller 31 on the photoreceptor drum 1 side is made smaller than the roller diameter of the developing belt driving roller 32 on the supply roller 22 side.
