PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner supplying comfortable air conditioning without deteriorating a supply capacity with respect to a particular indoor unit, even when a supply capacity of an outdoor unit is insufficient with respect to a demand total capacity of indoor units. SOLUTION: In the outdoor unit 2, priority setting content set in external setting devices of the indoor unit 1 is read, and stored in its nonvolatile memory. Then, it is checked whether a difference between a demand total capacity of indoor units 1 in operation, and the capacity of the outdoor unit is within a predetermined range. If it is within the predetermined range, the same action is repeatedly carried out until it is out of the predetermined range, and if it is not within the predetermined range, comparison is carried out between the air conditioning supply capacity of the outdoor unit 2 and the demand total capacity of the indoor units 1. If the capacity of the outdoor unit 2 is larger than the demand total capacity of the indoor units 1, an operation permission command is output to an indoor unit 1 with the highest priority under an operation prohibition command.
