A latch device comprises a circular mounting member G having a front recess 11 which is more than semi-circular in plan and terminates in two aligned sides 35, 36 separated by a channel-like aperture 37, a slot 22, 23 in the bottom wall of the member, a bolt housing I secured to the rear side of the bottom wall of the member G, a bolt F slidably supported in the housing I, spring means 31 biasing the bolt to a projected position, a handle H having an operating projection 47 and a rearwardly projecting flange 18 including a portion 20, 21 extending through the slot 22, 23 and normally engaging an abutment 25, 26 on the bolt, the handle being pivotally connected to the side walls of the channel-like aperture 37 of the mounting member G. As shown, the bolt is retracted by outward pivotal movement of the handle and is lockable in the projected position by a key-operated barrel of a cylinder lock K mounted on the handle and operative to engage and disengage a locking member 53 with and from a pair of lugs welded to the bottom of the mounting member G.</p> |
