The system (6) has two sensor devices that are arranged adjacent to each other at a longitudinal side of a vehicle (1`) and designed for detecting a parking space for the vehicle. One of the sensor devices is designed as a transmitting and a receiving unit and the other sensor device is designed as a receiving unit. The sensor devices are arranged in such a manner that its detection areas (611, 621) overlap modularly, where the areas comprise different aperture angle and the sensor devices comprise same operating frequency.
