METHOD FOR PRODUCING EXTRACT OF BAMBOO GRASS AND USE OF THE EXTRACT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a bamboo grass extract capable of efficiently extracting a specific component and provide a physiologically active composition containing the extract.

SOLUTION: The bamboo grass extract is produced by steaming the leaves and/or culms of bamboo grass with dry steam having a dryness improved by a pressure-reducing valve and a vapor-liquid separator at 160-190°C for 30 sec to 1 hr and extracting the steamed product with an aqueous solvent. The invention further provides a physiologically active composition containing the extract and a cosmetic and a food containing the composition.
