摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely inhibit deterioration of purification means accompanying lean atmosphere. <P>SOLUTION: A bypass passage 25 is connected to a main passage 21 provided with a first catalyst 31, and a bypass valve 40 is provided in the bypass passage 25. Also, VSV 42 operating the bypass valve 40 and an accelerator pedal sensor 56 are connected to ECU 60. Fuel to be supplied to an internal combustion engine 1 by an injector 50 can be stopped thereby after opening the bypass passage 25 by the bypass valve 40 when deceleration condition of the internal combustion engine 1 is detected by the accelerator pedal sensor 56. Consequently, lean gas flows in the main passage 21 and it can be inhibited environment of a first catalyst 31 from being lean atmosphere.
