<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for displaying fluctuation of a pattern image capable of letting game player's interest last for a long time and providing sense of lively motion and to provide a game machine provided with it. <P>SOLUTION: A middle pattern image C1 displayed in a central display region of screen is displayed on a front face of a vortex image 42, and a middle pattern image C2 is displayed on a rear surface of the vortex image 42. The middle pattern image C1 is moved onto the right side on the front face of the vortex image 42, and size of the middle pattern image C2 is enlarged on the left side of the rear surface of the vortex image 42. The middle pattern image C1 moved onto the right side of the vortex image 42 is contracted on the rear surface of the vortex image 42, and the middle pattern image C2 is moved from the left side toward the right side on the front face of the vortex image 42. By repeating fluctuation of the middle pattern image, at least two pattern images can be displayed so as to rotate around the vortex image 42 centered on the vortex image 42.
