PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely protect copyright by deterring unauthorized use without impairing the convenience for a data user when contents are utilized. SOLUTION: This method is provided with: a data use history information generation means for generating data use history information ct representing a starting time c1 and an ending time c2 in using data (b) by a data using means 1; a means 3 for sending the data use history information ct toward an external apparatus; a means for receiving data use history information cr from the external apparatus; and a data use history comparing means 7 which compares the respective pieces of the data use history information and which issues multiple apparatus use notice information (d) showing overlapped occurrence of data use terms when a data use term obtained based on one of the pieces of data use history information included in the data use history information ct is overlapped with a data use term obtained based on one of the pieces of data use history information included in the data use history information cr.
