PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having an excellent durability. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire containing a layer consisting of steel cords obtained by coating a carcass 4 and/or belt 6 with coating rubber is provided by using a rubber composition obtained by blending 1 pt.mass to 10 pts.mass sulfur and 0.1 pt.mass to 10 pts.mass compound expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, R is a 1-16C divalent aliphatic group or a divalent aromatic group], or a rubber composition obtained by blending 1 pt.mass to 10 pts.mass composition consisting mainly of the above compound and 0.2 pt.mass to 10 pts.mass waterproof acid-receiving agent expressed by general formula (2): [Mg<SB>(1-X)</SB>Al<SB>x</SB>(OH)<SB>2</SB>]<SP>x+</SP>-x/2(CO<SB>3</SB>)<SP>2-</SP>-mH<SB>2</SB>O [wherein, (x) is 0.3 to 0.5 number; and (m) is 0 to 5 number] based on 100 pts.mass rubber component.
