Product for dyeing or lightening keratin fibers comprises 0.001-15 wt.% of an azepanone (I). An independent claim is also included for lightening keratin fibers by optionally applying a pretreatment product P1, applying a product P2, optionally after adding a product P3, rinsing off P2 after 5-30 minutes, optionally applying a posttreatment product P4 and rinsing off P4 after a few minutes, where at least one of P1, P2 and P3 is a product as above.
