Silicon carbide ceramic production involves forming a blank from a porous wood material with naturally grown porosity of the wood, pyrolyzing it under favorable heating conditions, machining the pyrolyzed blank to the dimensions of the finished product, heating it to infiltration temperature and infiltrating it with liquid silicon.
