<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device and a light emitting device array capable of shortening an emitting light point pitch and also reducing an emitting light size, without causing restrictions of substrate material, deterioration of light emitting intensity, variation or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device comprises: a light emitting layer 1; a p-type current diffusion layer 2 formed in one surface side of the light emitting layer 1; an n-type current diffusion layer 3 formed in the other surface side of the light emitting layer; a p-type electrode 4 formed in a part of the p-type current diffusion layer; and an n-type electrode 5 formed in a part of the n-type current diffusion layer. Further, by arranging the positions of the p-type electrodes and n-type electrodes in such a way that they may be shifted mutually, the light emitting point in the light emitting layer 2 is controlled according to a selection pattern of the p-type electrodes and n-type electrodes.
