PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission control device for reliably executing neutral control irrespective of the gradient status of a road surface while improving fuel consumption. SOLUTION: A threshold P(S) for brake pressure which permits the execution of neutral control is set in accordance with the gradient G of a road surface and a previously stored map. In the map, the threshold P(S) is stored so that it is smaller as the gradient G of an upsloping road is greater and the brake pressure is set to generate a braking force greater than the force of gravity acceleration on the rear side of a vehicle.
