PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasive grain, a method of producing the same, and a boring device using the abrasive grains, wherein adhesiveness between an abrasive grain surface and a metallic coating layer, is improved so as to achieve uniform coating of the abrasive grain surface with a metal. SOLUTION: The metal coated abrasive grain has the surface thereof coated with the metallic coating layer. Specifically the metal coated abrasive grain has a silane coupling layer containing a silane coupling agent, which is formed on all or part of the abrasive grain surface, and the metallic coating layer coating all or part of a surface of the silane coupling layer. By virtue of silane coupling treatment, the adhesiveness between the abrasive grain and the metallic coating layer is enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
