PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for specifically detecting Phomopsis sclerotioides of a soil-borne fungus of crops belonging to the family Cucurbitaceae. SOLUTION: The Phomopsis sclerotioides is identified or detected by PCR reaction using a chromosomal DNA of the objective microbe as a template by using a primer corresponding to a base sequence of Phomopsis sclerotioides-specific domain in a base sequence of ITS domain of rDNA gene group of Phomopsis sclerotioides.
