A process for producing a magnetic encoder, in which reduction of production cost can be realized. There is provided a process for producing a magnetic encoder, comprising the magnetic body molding step (S110) of providing a magnetic body resulting from binding of a magnetic material with rubber to be fixed around the circumference of a core metal and the step (S120) of fixing the magnetic body to a core metal. The step (S110) includes the operation of disposing a raw material containing a magnetic material and rubber to be formed into a magnetic body inside the depressed portion of a metal mold provided with a depressed portion defining the configuration of magnetic body with inflected configuration so as to obtain a magnetic body with configuration partially inflected so that, than the area of region surrounded by the magnetic body having been fixed to the core metal, the area of the region becomes smaller, and heating the raw material to thereby accomplish molding of the magnetic body.
