An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to efficiently block light in a normally black mode without forming a connection portion at a polarization plate, by forming absorption axes in the same direction, and properly disposing a plurality of retardation films. A liquid crystal panel includes a pair of insulating substrates, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of insulating substrates. An upper optical film assembly includes a lambda/4 retardation film(530), a lambda/2 retardation film(520), and an upper polarization plate(510) that are sequentially stacked on an upper surface of the liquid crystal panel. A lower optical film assembly includes a lambda/4 retardation film(430), a lambda/2 retardation film(420), and a lower polarization plate(410) that are sequentially stacked on a lower surface of the liquid crystal panel. The upper polarization plate and the lower polarization plate have absorption axes in the same direction. |
